Place to Start October 2020 Challenge – Theme: Harvest

A huge welcome to everyone – new followers as well as old friends. I am very grateful for all of you wonderful people who follow me from week to week and month to month.
And here we are at the start of October! It is hard to believe we are ready for a new Place to Start challenge. I hope today you will find some wonderful inspiration today!

So lets see what I have made:

This is how I made my card:
– I first I gave a piece of printer paper a watercolor wash with the colors red, green and yellow;
– I let this paper dry overnight;
– I have cut out various leaves with dies of different brands;
– I took a blank card;
– I glued a design paper in a wood color on it;
– there I glued a jute strip;
– and there I glued my autumn leaves!

And that’s actually it! Very very simple! But sometimes life can be very simple 😉 I did not put a sentiment on the card yet. Maybe or maybe not I might do that later… I have not done this so far, because this card could be sent for various occasions. And perhaps there is no sentiment at all: you know: for an occasion for which you simply have no words for!

Thank you very much for visiting my blog. I am delighted with the comments you leave. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and I hope you will come back soon to have a look.

Creative Knockouts – #370- Witches Brew- Jan’s Digi Stamps

Good Morning my lovely crafty friends. I hope you are well and having a good time! Today is the start of a new Creative Knockouts Challenge. This time the theme is: Fall.
The prize for one lucky winner is $10 store gift certificate from Jan’s Digis Stamps.

My card features the very “witchy” digistamp that comes with a sentiment: Witches Brew.

I can hear you thinking, “Deezy it must be a fall theme …!” But my little witch is cooking a nice fall brew … duh!

This is how I have made my card:
– My background is inspired by Nichol Spohr and I just wanted to try it out for this card. I used some
distress ink and a stencil that I have had for years;;
– I printed out the very cute image on a blanc card;
– I printed out my image again on a scrapprinter paper en cut this out;
– I lay it on top of my original card and stamp en stick it with some tape;
– I put my stencil on top of the card and than I started to distress ink the whole card;
– I colored my image with my alcoholmarkers;
– I punched out some black stars and glued than on my card;
– I glued my card on some black cardstock;
– I edited the sentiment in photoshop because I would like white text on a black background;
– I placed everything on a blanc card;
– and that is it!

Does the smell of the witch’s fall brew already come to you?

I would like to enter my card into the following fabulous challenges:

Place to Start September 2020 Challenge – Theme – Create a Children’s card

Who believes it is September already? Not me! But it is really true: So, 1st Monday of September time for a new challenge on the Place to Start challenge blog! We ask you to create a children’s card this time. And I still had this nice digi-stamp, so what are we waiting for ?!

And this has become my card:

This is how I made my card:
– I donwloaded this free digistamp Nikki from Polkadoodles ;
– I colored the image with my alcoholmarkers and gave it some shadow with colorpencils;
– I found the background a bit boring, so I started making dots with my markers :-);
– I got so enthusiastic about all those dots and the result that I made a few more with glitter markers;
– The sentiment I used also comes from Polkadoodles;
– I also drew some movement with a black gelly roller. Now it looks like the girl is skipping up a bit;
– I placed my colored cart on a beautiful red card!

And super simple but very nice card I think ?! I believe I can make someone happy with this again 😉

Creative Knockouts – #366- A charmed Life- Jan’s Digi Stamps

Good Morning my lovely crafty friends. I hope you are well and having a good time! Today is the start of a new Creative Knockouts Challenge. This time the theme is: A charmed Life.
The prize for one lucky winner is $10 store gift certificate from Jan’s Digis Stamps.

My card features the very cute digistamp that comes with a sentiment: Toy Stocking.

Even though I don’t have to think about it yet, but Christmas is just around the corner! September is a great month to start with your Christmas cards. And I think this stamp is so cute: as soon as I saw it I already knew what kind of card I was going to make.

This is how I have made my card:
– I choose some nice christmas designpapers from my stash (for the dutch readers: i bought this
designpaperblock many years ago for 1 euro at the Wibra 🙂 ) and some red and green matching
cardstock;
– I printed out the very cute image and sentiment and die-cutted them in a circle;
– I colored my image with my alcoholmarkers and did the shadows as I usual do with my colorpencils;
– I die-cutted a green circle and a red circle;
– I glued everything together;
– I placed my charm and my bow on the green side panel;
– at least I decided to put some dots on the background: I love the effect of it. I used grey markers and
my Jane Davenport glittermarker for it this time;
– and that is it!

So if you’re not in the mood for Christmas just yet, making Christmas cards will make you love it!

Place to Start August, 2020 Challenge: A Shaker Card

August first Monday, It’s time for a challenge on the Place to Start challenge blog! We ask you to create a shaker card this time. Coincidentally, I needed a birthday card for one of our nephew’s birthday! He loves football very much, so my theme is easy this month!

And this has become my card:

This is how I made my card:
– I looked up on the internet what a football field looks like 🙂
-Then I traced the lines of the football field, with a white gel-roller, on a green top card;
– Then I searched the internet for a coloring picture of a football player who scores a goal;
– I modified this image in MS Word to a small size and printed it out and colored it with my markers;
– I also looked up a football on the internet;
– I also adapted the format in MS Word, printed it out and cut it out;
– With the same size die-cuts I punched a frame for my football;
– I have the football shaker, filled with black and white sequins and beads;
– On the shaker I wrote “congratulations”;
– I also drew some movement with a black gelly roller. Now it looks like the boy shoots the ball towards the goal!

Take good care of yourself! Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope to see you again very soon and in good health! And be sure and join in our monthly challenge at a Place to Start Blog! Please click on the link to join in the fun, I can’t wait to see what you create!!!

Card for the big boys!

Happy Monday! I often use my leftovers in other projects. I made this card with the design paper I had left from my “Little Dragon Dude” project! In addition, I also liked to show you that Polkadoodles kit: “Dragon Onesie Little Dude”, is not only suitable for making cards for the little guys. ;-)!

All the design paper and the stamp, that I have used for this card, comes from “the Dragon Onesie Little Dude”, that can be found here.

This is how I made my card:

  1. First, I printed this incredibly beautiful digital Polkadoodles designpaper and sentiment on a somewhat thicker paper;
  2. I cut out hexagons with the die-cut machine. I cut out the sentiment by hand;
  3. I placed all the hexagons on a black piece of cardstock;
  4. I also looked for a place on the card for the sentiment and I stuck two small left-over pieces of design paper behind it as a kind of banner;
  5. I went through my stash and found some blue and silver sequins and placed them on my card too.

As you can see, this kit can be used for many purposes! Hasn’t this become a tough card?!” In this kit you will not only find the very cute digi stamp, but also three beautiful design scrapbook papers and a sentiment stamp. So you can vary endlessly and make a greeting card for many occasions!

Here you will find links to the supplies used to create this project(s).

Place to Start June, 2020 Challenge: Create A Shaped Card

Good morning everyone, how are you doing! The month flies by, as usual. Here everything is reasonably under control and life goes on again. There are many discussions going on about whether or not to wear a mouth mask or whether or not to keep it 1.5 meters distance. Anyway. I have to tell you honestly, I use my common sense and I try not to worry too much. In addition, I rely on all those clever minds who are currently working on vaccines to eventually suppress the virus and that we can quickly return to the old normal! In the meantime I am overjoyed with my hobbies and I love to be able to tinker in my craft room!

Today, the first monday of the month, is the start of a new A Place to Start Challenge.

This month the prompt is: Create a shaped card!

So, I have made a Flowerpot Card!

Inside the card there is space for a little note;

I had so much fun making these cards and they are always handy when you need to send out a little friendly note, so that is why I made two of them 🙂

This is how I have made my card:
1. I first break my head how to shape the flower pot, than I made a sketch and a pattern out of that sketch.
2. I cut the pattern out of the cardstock.
3. I die cutted some paper flowers in pink, red and whites.
4. I cut a little rectangle, placed some note paper on it en glued all the flowers at the top.
5. The vintage labels come from the Graphics Fairy Premium Member Website. I thought they would look very cute on the flowerpots and gave them a somewhat vintage look.
6. I added some paper stripes at the top of the flowerpot so it looks like they have a ribbon border.
7. I distressed everything with some distress ink.
8. I stamped the Happy Birthday stamps on the labels.
